FAQs

Short, direct answers to the questions we are asked most often about IPTV, devices, plans and problems.

IPTV basics

What is IPTV?

IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) delivers live TV channels and on-demand video over an internet connection instead of a cable, satellite dish or aerial. Your provider sends the stream; an app on your TV, streaming stick, phone or computer plays it. Our guide What is an IPTV channels subscription? explains the technology in more detail.

Is IPTV legal?

The technology is completely legal — many cable and phone companies deliver their own TV service as IPTV. What matters is whether the provider holds the rights to distribute the channels and films it offers. Licensed services are legal to use; services that rebroadcast channels without permission are not, and in many countries selling or promoting them is a criminal offence. Read how to choose a legal IPTV subscription before you buy from anyone.

What is the difference between IPTV and regular streaming apps?

Apps such as Netflix are on-demand libraries. IPTV usually refers to services that also carry live, scheduled channels with a programme guide, just like cable TV — only delivered over the internet. Many modern services, including the big US live TV streaming services, combine both.

What internet speed do I need?

As a rule of thumb, plan for about 5 Mbps per HD stream, 10 Mbps per Full HD sports stream and 25 Mbps per 4K stream, then add headroom for everything else on your network. A stable connection matters more than a high peak speed — see Stable IPTV: why streams buffer and how to fix it.

Devices and setup

Which devices are compatible?

Most IPTV services work on Amazon Fire TV devices, Android TV and Google TV boxes, Samsung and LG smart TVs (through their app stores), Apple TV, iPhone and iPad, Android phones and tablets, Windows and Mac computers, and MAG-style set-top boxes. Exact app availability changes over time, so check our device setup guide for current instructions.

Which app should I use to watch?

You need an IPTV player app that supports the login format your provider gives you — usually an M3U playlist link or Xtream Codes-style login (server address, username and password). Popular players include TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro, GSE Smart IPTV and VLC. Our comparison of IPTV streaming apps covers the strengths of each.

Can I watch on several devices at the same time?

Yes, if your plan includes more than one connection. A connection is one stream playing at a time. A 2-device plan lets two screens play simultaneously; logging in on more devices than your plan allows will usually cut one of the streams off.

Do I need a VPN?

A VPN is not required to use a lawful IPTV service. Some people use one for privacy on public Wi-Fi, or because their internet provider manages traffic in a way that affects video. A VPN adds a little latency and can reduce speed, so test with and without it. A VPN does not make an unlicensed service legal.

Plans, orders and refunds

How do I order a plan?

Choose a plan on the plans page and use Request this plan. We confirm availability and payment options by email, and your login details are sent once the order is confirmed. Then follow the setup guide for your device.

Which plan length should I choose?

If you are new to IPTV, start with a shorter plan so you can judge picture quality and reliability on your own network and devices. Longer plans cost less per month but lock you in for longer, so only commit once you are happy with the service. Our guide to comparing IPTV subscription plans shows how to work out the real cost per month.

What is your refund policy?

Refund eligibility, time limits and how to make a request are set out in our Refund & Returns Policy. Please read it before ordering.

Can I change plans later?

Yes. Contact us before your current plan ends and we will explain the options for adding connections or switching to a different duration.

Troubleshooting

What should I do if a channel stops working?

First check whether other channels play. If none do, restart your router and device and test your speed. If only one channel is affected, it is usually a temporary problem with that feed — try again later or use the catch-up section if your service offers it. If the problem persists, contact us with the channel name, your device and the time it happened.

Why does my stream buffer?

Buffering is usually caused by Wi-Fi interference, a congested home network, an overloaded device, or traffic management by your internet provider at peak times. A wired Ethernet connection, closing background apps and choosing a lower-resolution stream all help. Our full checklist is in Stable IPTV.

The programme guide (EPG) is empty or wrong. How do I fix it?

Refresh or reload the EPG in your player's settings, make sure your device's time zone is correct, and check that the EPG source URL from your provider was entered exactly. Guides can take several minutes to download the first time.

How do I get help?

Use the contact form. Include your device model, the app you use and a short description of the problem so we can give you a precise answer.
